Recognition opportunities:

The Disabled Sailing Association recognizes the valuable contributions of our sponsors in a variety of ways. Because our boats are extremely visible in the waters around Vancouver, we are proud to display our sponsors' names and logos on our sails, and / or boat.

Further, we recognize our sponsors in our regular publications and our promotional materials related to special events. We have also given recognition to our sponsors on our permanent signage at the Jericho Sailing Centre, which is a high-traffic area during the summer season.

The unique nature of the Disabled Sailing Association is that our programs always attract significant media attention. The Martin 16 fleet will be cruising English Bay through the summer and will also be involved in several high profile cup races and regattas.

Reach for Hawaii 2007:

DSA volunteers help our programs in a variety of ways. This year Chris Hui, a DSA volunteer for the past three summers, decided to sail his 32’ sloop Solar Coaster to Hawaii to raise awareness of the work of the DSA – and inspire others to support us, too.

His efforts have brought people and organizations together and had an impact on community sailing. WestJet, for whom Chris is a pilot, has donated two tickets to anywhere they fly in Canada. People who make a donation to the DSA will have a chance to win these tickets.

West Marine is having a Reach for Hawaii weekend at their Vancouver store, 1601 West 2nd Ave (Fir St. intersection), on May 5 and 6 in honour of Chris’ journey and to help raise further awareness of the DSA. Come along to hear more about Reach for Hawaii and enter prize competitions.

More info on Chris Hui and the Solar Coaster here.
