Volunteers are active in sailing
instruction, public information and in helping sailors with disabilities
to board and disembark from our fleet of specially designed Martin
16 sailboats. Currently DSA has about 70 volunteers.
All volunteers are encouraged to
participate in DSA's sailing activities and administrative tasks.
Volunteers contribute in their own capacities, gaining the confidence
and motivation to expand their knowledge, try new experiences
and get support at the same time from their friends.
While anyone can become a volunteer,
DSA members generally come from backgrounds of sailing, families
of people with disabilities, community organizations and recreation
work in the disability field.
DSA Volunteer Positions:
Applicants must possess excellent
communication skills and an ability to maintain confidentiality.
They must be willing to participate in DSA’s screening measures,

Reasons to Volunteer
with DSA, Sailing (of course!)
DSA depends upon, and is grateful for, our dedicated
volunteers. Without the support of our volunteers the association
would not be the success it is today.
People volunteer for a variety of reasons; including
learning to sail and enjoying sailing our Martin 16s.
DSA volunteers may join a learn-to-sail course
and book one of our Martin 16s at any time under the normal booking
rules and fees (preference will be given to a person with a disability).
